The meeting was called to order by club president, Denny Liddle. Announcements were made regarding upcoming club events. Guests were recognized and included the students in the speech contest, parents, and administrators Mrs. Tricia Pletcher from Norton HS, Ms. Marchia White from Manchester HS , Mr. Jay Austin from Barberton HS, and Mrs. Patti Cleary, Barberton Schools Superintendent.  
 
The club holds the 4 Way Test Speech Contest annually. The winner of the Rotary Club of Barberton contest qualifies for the Rotary District 6630 contest to be held April 8th at Aurora High School and a prize of $100. Second place received $75 and is also the runner up for the District 6630 contest if the winner is unable to attend. The 3rd place was awarded $50. Each school receives $75 for participating in the contest.
 
Each student gave a speech 5-7 minutes in length. The purpose of the speech was to solve an ethical problem using the principles of the Rotary Four Way Test.
The Rotary 4 Way Test is: "Of the things we think, say or do: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?" 
 
The winners were: 1st place Hannah Hitchings from Norton H.S. her topic was Anti- intellectualism in America, 2nd place Jonathan Walton from Norton H.S. with a topic of the the Mortgage Crisis and the Recession, 3rd Place Stephanie Smith from Manchester H.S. with a topic of Self Harm Awareness.
