Club Meeting of June 9

The meeting was called to order by club president, Tom Craig. Guests were recognized and included our snowbird Brenda Farrell and our speaker Theresa Osborne. Vic reported on the net for our golf outing. He advised we made close to our budgeted amount for the event. Our net for this year was $8000. Bid thanked everyone who volunteered and participated in the event.
Tom reminded members of the upcoming officer induction/new member induction ceremony to be held on June 30 at the Galaxy in Wadsworth. Cost per person for the event is $35 and checks should be made payable to the Barberton Rotary Club.
Denny Liddle gave updates on Barbertonopoly. There will be a meeting of the sales team immediately following our meeting next week, June 16. We need to wrap up the unsold squares as the art is due June 30.
Ruth Kaser advised there will be a short meeting to plan the 2016 Reverse Raffle immediately following the June 23rd meeting. Agenda items are the event theme, basic event structure and cost.
Selena Myers invited club members to Stark States open house to be held next Thursday, June 16 from 6-7:30 pm. Welding demos and refreshments are some of the things that will be happening during the open house.
Our speaker was Theresa Osborne. Theresa is the Relay for Life Barberton Event Lead. She shared some data regarding cancer research and the structure of the Relay for Life. Her available literature included the schedule for the Barberton Relay for Life and Am Cancer Society help cards. She shared that proceeds from the Relay for Life help fund the Hope Lodges used by cancer patients and their families.
