The meeting was called together by club president, Jim Sawin. Birthdays were recognized- we sang to Tim. Rick Fisher reported on our upcoming Golf Outing at Barberton Brookside on June 8. They set a goal for 4 somes and are requesting door prizes. The next meeting of the committee will be after the March Rotary Bd meeting on March 13. Rick also gave an update on the shoes the club members donated to the District to be sent to Senegal. Our club donated 230 prs of shoes and District 6630 sent 4000 prs.
Selena shared that our March 1 meeting will not only have a Rotary Club presentation by Don and Ruth Kaser but during breakfast there will be a short skit by the cast members of The Adams Family to give us a preview of the play that will be at the high school March 22-25. You can purchase tickets online. 
Shelly requested some club members to remain after next weeks meeting so scholarship applications can be reviewed for BHS. Their deadline will be Fri, March 2. Also the 4 Way Test Speech Contest for our club will be the follow club meeting- March 8. The club will need to send a representative to Aurora HS for the District 6630 level contest to be held on April 7.
Vic noted that both Mar 1 and Mar 8 meetings will be a buffet so come early to get your seat and have your breakfast. 
Our speaker was Paula Schleis, a reporter with the Akron Beacon Journal. Paula is an award winning reporter with the Beacon Journal. Her beat covers Barberton, Stow and Cuy. Falls. She talked about the changes in the newspaper industry how the Beacon is proud they are still a daily paper- printing 7 days a week as other local papers are now longer a full week in print. Their reporting staff is smaller these days, due to several reasons. One is technology now lets a single reporter what also took a support staff to help.  She shared that Barberton was one of their biggest subscriber bases.
