Ruth Kaser won the coin toss to run the meeting. Guests were recognized and included Carrie Herman from the BCF, Amber Genet from OECC, and Mayor Bill Judge. Steve Kindel was thanked for being the February greeter, Todd Sabol will be our March greeter. Upcoming community events were shared:
  • Cheer on the Barberton Sparkles, today at BEW Cafetorium at 6pm,
  • Saturday, Feb 22, Barberton DECA event from the HeART at the Summit Artspace 12-3 pm
We will have 2 schools and 6 students participating in our club level 4 Way Test Speech Contest to be held at our Mar 5 meeting. Manchester HS has a new adviser to replace Marcia White, MHS and NHS will be participating.
 
Our club needs to send at least 2 people to the upcoming District 6630 Grants Seminars. This is one of the requirements for qualification of a District 6630 matching grant. The seminars will be held this Saturday and next Saturday. Ruth Kaser will send out the locations in a club email. 
 
Kate DeAngelis presented photos of the 3 interpretative signs our club sponsored to be placed on the TowPath Trail. One will be placed at the Fairview Trail head, one at the Magic Mile by the Kiosk, and one will be placed at Lock 1. Kate worked with Sarah Hayes at the BPL. Amber Genet spoke of the time line of the signs, how the project began with the OEC and going forward what will happen. The plan is for the signs to be in place at the beginning of May. Mayor Judge spoke of Barberton what is going on, plans going forward for business and industry and how the Towpath helps with quality of life.
