Club Meeting of February 12

The meeting was called to order by club president, Nick Wladyczak. Happy Dollars were collected. Nick announced that the donations from our club members for Happy Dollars will be given to the Annual Campaign of the Lake Anna YMCA. He also reminded the club of our membership event to be held next Friday, February 20th at 6pm at Dusty's Landing. Members are encouraged to invite a prospective Rotarian and join the fun and potluck. We will not have our regular meeting next Thursday.

Our speaker was Barberton Public Library Director, Julianne Bedel. Julianne shared information regarding the library levy that will be on the ballot in May. The levy is both a renewal as well as an increase. The library needs the renewal as well as the increase due to a variety of factors. The State of Ohio's Public Library Fund, which provides a significant portion of the library total revenue has decreased. The operating levy accounts for 36% of the total revenue. The library annual visits are up, borrowing is up, but the financial support is down. The money from the levy along with state funding is used to support the overall operations of the library.

The club presented Julianne and Rev. Vic Myers, the Co-Chair person of the Levy Committee, with a donation of $100 for the library levy.
