The meeting was called to order by club president, guests were welcomed. Guests included Larry Okolish, our speakers Margaret Palisin from BACM and Jason Neihaus from Summa.
Nick announced our grant was approved, we need to now apply by May 15 and Kim Buehler will be completing the application. Nick also shared that a sign up list is being passed around for assisting the Magical Theatre in their moving of equipment. Help days are April 11 and 12th from 9-5, help is appreciated even if it is only an hour.
The Save the Date cards for our golf outing on June 5 have been prepared, Vic Myers requested club members to assist the club in updating our mailing list. Also, we are still in need of an main prize for the raffle- Rick Fisher was requested to be the person to contact Dan Pohl for the donation of the 4 some at Fairlawn County Club. Vic also reminded the club members of the upcoming library levy fund raising event to be held at Block 7. The levy is issue 9 on the ballot in May.
Happy Dollars were collected. Ruth Kaser shared news of an upcoming Eco Fair to be held on Saturday, April 18th at Grace UCC from 10-2.
Nick said the next board meeting of the club will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at Kave at 7:30.
Jason Neihaus shared some of the new things coming and happening at Summa. He will be a club speaker in July. He restated Summa's commitment to the community and although some of the contracted specialty care will be leaving their facility they are not closing their IP services. He also shared they will be looking at their facility plan and are committed to making investments in renovations and construction. They would like to expand but are land locked.
Our other speaker was Margaret Palisin the new Executive Director of BACM. She shared that last year BACM served 16% of the combined population of Barberton and Norton, BACM is a member of the Akron Food Bank. Margaret also shared some of the impossible choices faced by the food insecure in their daily lives, and how BACM helps.
