The meeting was called to order by club president, Nick Wladyczak. Club announcements were made. Treasurer Vic Meyers advised the next quarter dues will be sent out via email shortly. Vic also asked club members review the proposed budget for the club and the clubs foundation for Rotary year 2015/2016. He asked club members to fully support the Barberton Rotary Foundations two major funrdraising events: the upcoming Golf Classic on Friday, June 5 and the Reverse Raffle on Thursday, October 29. The upcoming year expenditures for Barberton Rotary Foundation include $4000 to the Magical Theatre, $4000 in scholarships, and over $3000 in annual community donations.
VP of Vocational Service, Kim Buehler shared the results of the Rotary District 6630 4 Way Test Speech Contest. Kim said our club winner, Stephanie Smith did well, however she did not win the district contest. The results of the contest will be available on the District 6630 site.
Secretary Bruce May passed out the updated Barberton Rotary Club information flyers. They include the information that our clubs mission has been the assistance of children with special needs since 1924 when it was founded by M.S. Yoder and U.L.Light.
Nick shared news from the recent club board meeting. The board approved the member ship application of Jim Sawin, the Executive Director of the Lake Anna YMCA. He will be inducted as a new club member at an upcoming meeting. The board also set a date for our next social activity at Dusty's Landing -Friday, May 1. The club will provide the main dish and members are encouraged to invite potential new club members and to bring a side dish.
Our speaker was the induction ceremony for our new club member Laura Thomas. Laura is the new owner of Spencer Tax Service.
