Club meeting of 9/1/16

The meeting was called to order by President Elect (PE) Jim Sawin. Our guests included our speaker, Jo Dangel with the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. Vic Myers reminded the club only 50 days remain until the clubs Reverse Raffle- our fall event. Selena Myers shared that payment is due for the Brew at the Zoo event we will have October 1. If we have 30 or more attending the cost goes down to $15 per person. She also passed around the volunteer list for our Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank event on Sept. 17th.

Jo Dangel spoke about the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank. She shared her background with the food back, how food banks came into being in the US. The first food bank was started in 1962 and there are now 200 in the US. Our country wastes a lot of usable food- there is enough food produced in our country to feed everyone, there should not be hunger in the US. Ohio has 12 food banks.
