Barberton Rotary Club meeting on September 26

The club meeting of September 26-our speaker was Judge David Fish

The meeting was called to order by club President, Todd Wallace. Guests were recognized- our speaker Judge David Fish from Barberton Municipal Court.

Todd reminded everyone that the MumFest is this weekend, September 28-29th. Club members should check the Tons of Taters sign up to see when they signed up to volunteer. Also, we have a tentative date of Thursday, November 21 set for our Reverse Raffle.

Judge Fish spoke of the new and in the process of being certified Mental Health Court. This court is to be an alternative to incarceration. He said that criminal behavior can sometimes be triggered by mental illness and jail does not treat the problem.He described it as a specialty court with a treatment team available : mental health services, the court and its probation department.

The Barberton Rotary Club meets Thursdays at 7:15 AM at the Green Diamond Grille and Pub.
