FINALLY, we are back to Real Time!

Okay, just joking a bit, but we can all see better in the mornings driving/walking/biking to our destinations. (At night, not so much)

First off, thank you to everyone - particularly P.E. Todd for running the meeting so well last week. On a personal note; Carolyn is doing well. This time her medical issue was an ulcer which required substantially less intervention and transfusions then the last time.

I am sorry to have missed our speaker of the week, Capt. Ashley Ferrell of the Salvation Army. Because of my nearly 30 years with a similar organization, Goodwill Industries, I think we all have a deep understanding of the challenges facing the SA at this time of year especially. I think I speak for all the members when I say that we would Love & Adore having her as a fellow Rotarian in the new year.

In addition I want to remind all the members that next week Nov. 10th will be the meeting of the Board of Directors at 8:00 AM on the same ZOOM channel. We will be discussing several things including the on-going ideas for in-person meeting potentials.

District 6630 CLUSTER (South Summit) Conference, October30th

Last Friday I attended a Teleconference with a few of the other Club Presidents and invitees. Several areas of Local Rotary Club operations were discussed and investigated. The CHALLENGES all of the clubs face were similar... meetings, member's loss of interest in the Club and its mission services, limited potential for Fund Raising, connecting with the public in general, adding new members, etc.

One of the biggest areas discussed was holding meetings of any kind during this unusual period. Some clubs are doing exactly what we have been doing and that is to continue with ZOOM style gatherings. A couple of clubs have the meeting space to be able to hold face-to-face meetings, and one or two had the space, equipment and expertise to hold hybrid meetings - fact-to-face simultaneously with web-based meetings. Another few clubs had been meeting outside in covered areas with sound systems for speakers, etc. All agreed that this last method was probably over for the remainder of the Fall and Winter seasons.

All did agree that we wanted to return to in person contact meetings ASAP!

Jim Lechko from RI Foundation meeting this week should be OUTSTANDING

Many times we forget what Rotary International holds as a prime reason for being. Many of our newer members unfortunately have not been exposed to what the Foundation's goals are. If you have the opportunity to invite a potential member, someone who always wondered what Rotary was ALL ABOUT outside the local projects, this is a stellar opportunity for you and them.

Between the Lines

Thank you all for your patients while I attempt to learn to use the new Club Runner website, particularly this BULLETIN section.
