2021 Is Starting Off with a Flurry Excitement & Activity!!!As the year began, nearly everyone was a bit concerned that at least the first part of 2021 would be void of opportunities and growth for our Rotary Club. BOY! Oh! Boy! (Bob) have things changed rapidly. To start with we were having some issues relating to getting quality and interesting speakers as our programs, but within two (2) days all of that changed: #1 - Ohio Supreme Court Justice, Pat DeWine We were contacted by Justice Pat DeWine of the Ohio Supreme Court asking to be scheduled to speak at an upcoming regular meeting. Justice DeWine will be our speaker on February 18th at 8:00 AM. #2 - Adam Halpern, founder & CEO of InnovateAT & Wave On By no means do we want to down-play our other interesting and exciting programs, such as... Feb. 12th, Adam Halpern, founder and CEO of InnovateAT & Wave On. This is an interesting new concept in wellness care. P.E. Todd will introduce Adam, and with his background in the healthcare field will be able to add much insight into ways to keep all of us healthier longer. #3 - "4-Way Speech Contest" AND Scholarship Grants While the Club will be hosting the area "4-Way Speech Contest" at our March 4th meeting under Shelly Habegger's direction, she is also formulating plans for the Scholarship Grant Program our Club has sponsored in the past and will again this year entertain. Shelly is readying the request profiles of the applicants and will present those to us in the near future. It seems like the months of January and February this year are ALL the work of Shelly; on behalf of the entire Club, "Thank You Shelly!" #4 - Golf Outing Dave, Denny, Dustin, Bob, (and the list goes on) have already begun to plan for a Golf Outing fundraiser. They have already secured the first Friday in August, August 6th, at Chippewa. Chippewa is not only $12/golfer less expensive than Turkeyfoot, but the facilities for food, etc. are better. #5 - Ignite Brewing Company Then, on February 25th, our meeting will feature Ignite Brewing Company! I for one will be very interested how we can get a VIRTUAL taste of the Products. I would bet that there will at least be a virtual tour of the facilities and process. #6 - Mum Fest Now, if all of this wasn't enough to get your "juices flowing" here in February, the Mum Fest has been scheduled for September 25th & 26 of this year. Times are already established to be 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. And of course, Barberton Rotary's "TONS OF TATERS" it is hoped will be featured! And all of this has come to fore just in the last week of January. I wonder what the rest of the Spring will unfold? |
